Panther families- Our thoughts and prayers go out to those involved in the bus accident this morning. I wanted to follow up and let you know that the bus involved in this accident does not service CHES, as we have received several calls. We ask that you join us in our prayers for those who are affected.

On the morning of Monday, February 26, 2024, I can confirm that an auto-accident occurred involving Hawkins County students and a Hawkins County bus driver. I am glad to report that only two students were involved. They were both transported from the scene to receive medical attention and appear to have suffered only minor injuries. But I am heartbroken to report Aleita Gladson has passed away. Aleita was a longtime and valued Hawkins County Schools team member, as a bus driver, as a secretary, and as assistant director within our Transportation Department. Our prayers go out to her family, and we would ask that all those within our Hawkins County community keep Aleita’s family in your prayers as well. We pray too for the other driver involved in this accident. I will take a moment here as well to provide our heartfelt thanks to the many first responders who rushed to the accident scene to care for all those involved. At this time though, out of respect for all of the people and families affected by this tragic accident, neither I nor Hawkins County Schools will have any further comment.
